The preseason AP Top 25 basketball poll is out, and West Virginia checks in at No. 13 to start the season. It’s the 55th consecutive week the Mountaineers have appeared in the poll, which is one shy of the program record set between 1956 and 1960. Below is the full poll and below that is my ballot. It’s my first time voting in any AP poll, so I’m sure I messed up something somewhere.

My usual routine for this post is to do it in the hotel room the night before the West Virginia game, however thanks to some travel delays I didn’t get to Iowa until almost midnight local time. That put us a little behind here, but a 7 p.m. kickoff for WVU-Iowa State gives me some time to keep this thing going.

Here are WVU quarterback Will Grier and offensive coordinator Jake Spavital on several topics, including what went wrong Saturday as Grier tossed three interceptions in a win against Kansas.
I started on the WVU beat after the first game this season, so things were always going to seem like they were flying by for me. Still, Week 6 seems like it got here in a hurry. Part of that is also probably due to the cancellation of the WVU-N.C. State game a few weeks ago. Either way, we’re pretty much at the halfway point of the regular season and its almost time to start thinking about bowl game positioning for some teams.
