The Sock 'Em, Bust 'Em Board Because that's our custom

With all but a few games in the books for the 2018 college football regular season, let’s turn our attention to the bowl games.

We’ve all been beating you, our dear readers, over the head with just how important tonight’s football game between No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 12 West Virginia is. I’ll spare you some of that here.

Texas took care of its business, barely, at Kansas today. That means the Longhorns have clinched one of the two spots in next week’s Big 12 Championship Game. The other is up for grabs here at Mountaineer Field tonight. Win and you play at the House the Jerry Jones Built next week against Texas. Lose and you have to wait and see what your bowl destination is.

Here are your listed starters for tonight, but as always take these with a grain of salt. Dylan Tonkery, for example, is listed as the starter at middle linebacker, but we were told not to expect him on the field tonight when we spoke to the coaches this week.

Also keep an eye on the Oklahoma backfield, where usual starter Trey Sermon has been hobbled by a bum ankle but is listed as the starter.

AUDIO: Bob Huggins teleconference

WVU basketball coach Bob Huggins took some time out of his Wednesday to chat with the media on a teleconference. Here is the audio from that.

VIDEO: WVU QB Will Grier, Oklahoma week

WVU redshirt senior quarterback Will Grier is preparing for his last game at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown and it sure is a big one. Senior Night with Oklahoma and their Heisman Trophy hopeful quarterback Kyler Murray are in town with the winner moving on to next week’s Big 12 championship game.

We had a lot of questions today and the WVU QB wasn’t short on answers.

I’ll keep this short since I need a nap after the pregame meal in the T. Boone Pickens Stadium press box. WVU still controls its own destiny in regard to making it to next month’s Big 12 title game in Dallas, but the Mountaineers can clinch today with a win here against the Cowboys and a Texas win against Iowa State.

OSU is coming off a gut-punch loss to rival Oklahoma last week in the Bedlam game, and it’s Senior Day here in Stillwater.

Roster notes:

Not much to report here. Dylan Tonkery is listed as the starter at middle linebacker, with Shea Campbell on the two-deep as the backup. Both have battled bumps and bruises in recent weeks, with Tonkey missing some significant time this month. Other than that, nothing jumps out to me. It is, however, worth noting that these pre-game two-deep rosters aren’t always the most accurate, so take that for what it’s worth.

Check back after the game for video interviews.
