VIDEO: WVU coach Dana Holgorsen on the win at Texas
by Tom BraggAnother break between stories, another video post. This time it’s WVU coach Dana Holgorsen on the Mountaineers’ huge win Saturday at Texas.
Good afternoon from sunny Austin, where WVU and Texas are set to tangle with a winner gaining a leg up in the race for a spot in the Big 12 championship game.
Looking at the provided two-deep rosters, it appears WVU is getting some players back from injury for this game while others still need some time. Dylan Tonkery, out in each of the Mountaineers’ last two games, is the listed starter at middle linebacker with Shea Campbell listed as the backup. Derrek Pitts, the former Gazette-Mail Kanawha Valley Player of the Year at South Charleston High, is on the two-deep as the backup to Josh Norwood at cornerback. Pitts left the Iowa State game two weeks after tweaking his knee and did not play last week against Baylor. Nothing else especially jumps out.
I’ve been writing about it all week, so I won’t hit it to hard here now — this is a *massive* game for both WVU and Texas. The Mountaineers still control their own destiny in the Big 12, and a win here today would go a long way toward locking down a spot in the conference title game. For Texas, a win would get the Longhorns back on track after getting knocked off last week at Oklahoma State. Whichever teams leaves DKR today with a second loss in the league is going to need some help to get to Jerryworld.

When I attempt to get my poorly shot video clips during interviews, I also try to snap a few stills from the video to use for thumbnails and feature images for blog posts — like this one. That’s where this came from, and it made me laugh.
Quarterback Will Grier wasn’t made available to the media following West Virginia’s win against Baylor last week, but he was at Tuesday’s player interview session. Here’s an almost eight minute clip from the QB’s time taking questions.

PREGAME: Baylor at No. 13 WVU

I made it back from Big 12 men’s basketball media day Kansas City by way of Chicago and Pittsburgh (minus some of my luggage – thanks, American Airlines) and slipped down the road to get to Morgantown in time for tonight’s game between the visiting Baylor Bears and the No. 13 West Virginia Mountaineers.
But enough about me, let’s take a quick look at what’s going down here in a few hours at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown.
