*taps mic* Is this thing on?
I’m back from a week of vacation away from work and ready to hit the ground running. Today, media members got the chance to chat with a few West Virginia University football players to check in on how the summer is treating them so far. Here is what offensive lineman Josh Sills had to say.

No changes will be made to the Big 12 bowl lineup through the 2015 football postseason, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
From the Big 12 press release in my email:
The Big 12 football bowl lineup will remain the same through the 2025 postseason as the Conference has renewed its agreements with all eight partners for an additional six seasons beginning in 2020.
“The Conference’s bowl lineup provides premier destinations and exciting matchups for our institutions and supporters,” said Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby. “We are pleased to extend the relationship with our partners after the current term ends.”
The Allstate Sugar Bowl will continue to host the Big 12 champion against the SEC champion as part of the CFP New Year’s bowl alignment. In years in which the Sugar Bowl is designated to host a CFP semifinal game, the Big 12 champion would play in another New Year’s game if it is not selected for a semifinal appearance.
If the Big 12 champion is slotted to play in a CFP semifinal in years in which the Sugar Bowl is not hosting a semifinal, the Big 12 Championship game runner-up would advance to the Sugar Bowl.
The Conference’s bowl partners outside of the CFP selection process from 2020-25 include the Valero Alamo, Camping World, Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas, Autozone Liberty, Cheez-It and a rotation with the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces and SERVPRO First Responder bowls.

Before action gets rolling at the NCAA baseball tournament Morgantown Regional here in a few hours, let’s take a few minutes to look at the teams visiting West Virginia this weekend. We know plenty about the host and regional top-seed Mountaineers, but have not jumped into much with the other three teams. Let’s fix that with some quick capsules:

While I have a second here: s/o to John Lowe for helping with some photos today (like the “featured image” I used on this blog post) and also with some stories over the next few days.
Here is the video from WVU’s turn at the podium with coach Randy Mazey, senior right fielder Darius Hill, junior left-handed pitcher Alek Manoah and senior catcher Ivan Gonzalez.

The simple answer is this: WVU needs to win, maybe just one more game, and the Mountaineers should be in *very* good shape to host one of the 16 NCAA tournament regionals next weekend.
West Virginia plays Texas Tech on Saturday morning needing to win just one game to eliminate the Red Raiders and advance to Sunday’s Big 12 championship game. Texas Tech checks in at No. 10 — one spot ahead of WVU — in the latest RPI available at NCAA.com. Beating TTU tomorrow morning would give West Virginia a 5-1 season series advantage against the Red Raiders. I’m no NCAA baseball tournament selection committee member, but that combined with an appearance in the Big 12 title game sure seems like an awfully strong argument to be included among the tournament’s top 16 teams.

WVU has been teasing a new floor design at the Coliseum for a few days on social media, and on Thursday morning the school shared a rendering of their plans for the home of Mountaineer basketball.
The school announced the arena’s basketball floor design would get a makeover last April. With the recent efforts to rebrand the look of the athletic department, the new font on the wordmarks was pretty much guaranteed. I’m not crazy about the mountains along the bottom (kinda looks like the Mountain East Conference logo, no?), but I think all the blue will be an improvement. Between the lighting and old color scheme for the floor, the Coliseum looked awfully yellow on TV and in photos.
What do you think of the new floor design at the WVU Coliseum? Share it in the comments below.
