The Sock 'Em, Bust 'Em Board Because that's our custom

Yeah, that 90 figure was pretty flexibile

One way or another, we knew WVU would get to work on hitting that 85 number. We probably didn’t see this one coming though, what with Antonio Howard not only being committed since August but being Antonio Brown’s son.

This one got a little feisty yesterday. It started in the afternoon with word that Speedy was suddenly no longer part of WVU’s signing day plans, and then Howard himself confirmed the news on Twitter. He’ll now choose among UCF, Miami and Marshall. (Get Down Brown, by the way, was and still is cool with Doc Holliday, so …)

And that is where and when things got interesting.

Howard plays cornerback, a position of need if you’re familiar with WVU’s scholarship situation. There are two different stories about what happened, and they’re exactly what you expect.

One side says WVU wanted to keep Howard and didn’t want to be made to play a guessing/waiting game after all this time. Imagine the predicament where in the 11th hour you’ve got to suddenly build contingencies around a kid who’s been committed for 10 hours. As this story goes, WVU pulled the kid’s scholarship offer when Howard decided to take a visit this past weekend. (Howard denies this, naturally.)

The other side says Howard was merely guilty of being like countless other kids. He decided to make use of the allotted time and visits and started listening to others and thinking about his future. He eventually arrived at a conclusion where he believed his future was not with the Mountaineers.

Commence the spin! Up first, JaJuan Seider, who is actually very entertaining and resourceful on Twitter.

That’s not exactly subtle, and it’s since been deleted, but it stood for a while and Howard saw it and fired back. Quickly understanding Seider’s not-so-mysterious tweet and the assertion within, Howard assured his followers it has he who “cut them loose” and not the other way around — no disrespect.

That, though, followed this since-deleted tweet. speedy

The best part? Seider unfollowed Howard!
