That right there is Tajh Boyd and he’s done his homework on the WVU defense.

“They lost Terence Garvin and I don’t know how much that affected them. We’ll have to see when we get out there, but he’s a really, really good player.”

And when Boyd says “see when we get out there,” he means it. He wants to get to know whoever is playing Garvin’s spot.

“We’ll definitely take some shots,” he said.

Sammy Watkins was asked early and often about his friendship with former South Fort Myers High teammate Brodrick Jenkins, who figures to start at cornerback for WVU. The two hung out briefly Friday night in South Beach.

“We didn’t have too many words,” Watkins said.

That’s a change from their past, when one went against the other, when they talked all sorts of junk, when Jenkins tried to prove that the Class of 2009 was superior to the Class of 2011, when Jenkins tutored Watkins.

“He told me I can go against anybody older, no matter what. I think that helped me a lot as a freshman,” he said.

Tight end Dwayne Allen is a fun fella. He’s bright, too — don’t get me wrong. He was complimented separately for his football IQ. He referred to himself as a “mismatch problem.” He also cracked jokes and told stories, liek this one about offensive coordinator Chad Morris.

“Coach Morris came down after practice and he was talk about son, Chandler. He said his son Chandler went to the bathroom and came out, like, ‘Dad, you’ve got to come here and see this water fountain. There’s nothing like it.’ It was actually a bidet. That’s had me rolling for a couple days.”
