Bowser back; Mario, Luigi worried

More good recovery news for WVU: Cornerback Brantwon Bowser — my bad — Cornerback Brantwon Bowser, who tore his right ACL in spring practice and was expected to miss the entire season, is practicing with the team and will likely play Saturday against Villanova.

“He’s way ahead of schedule,” Coach Bill Stewart said Tuesday. “He’s going to play he’s so far ahead of schedule.”

Bowser came to WVU from Phoenix Community College and the coaching staff was hoping he could use January enrollment to vie for immediate playing time. He was hurt in April and noticeably bummed out.

“I called him into my office and said, ‘I’m so mad at you,'” Stewart said. “He said, ‘Why?’ I said, ‘It happened. Now let’s get over it. You’ve got to get going.’ Now he’s waiting for (the trainers) in the morning. He’s waiting for them at night. I’m so thrilled for him.”

Bowser went through a full practice Sunday with no physical limitations. The team had Monday off and Stewart said Bowser would practice live again tonight.

“That cat can go,” Stewart said before he clasped his hands, pulled them toward his chest and looked up to the sky. “If he’s in there, he’s a nickel back, a dime back. He adds a whole lot back there.”
