Talking points
August 11, 2008 by Mike Casazza…from the weekend that was. For your use in elevator rides, trips to the water cooler and other awkward moments on a Monday.
– Steve Slaton was pretty busy Saturday night— and right on cue, Ahman Green is hurt.Â
- Owen Schmitt escaped the constraints of minicamp and practice to show what he can do.
– Darius Reynaud’s kick-returning debut with the Vikings was better than it was with WVU. Â
– A couple of freshmen seem to be earning a spot on WVU’s depth chart.
– The most important player at the Mountaineers cornerback and running back positions? It’s a slot receiver who’s never played the slot. Confused? Good.
– By the way, the Olympics have been pretty entertaining so far, highlighted by the President’s antics throughout. He’s clearly there as a fan. I enjoyed his sudden appreciation for beach volleyball, but not as much as what happened Saturday night. Some gy named Michael Phelps won a gold medal and was on the podium listening to his national anthem. It stopped abruptly — conspiracy! — and the camera panned to W, who was inexplicably cheering wildly in the stands. We didn’t get to see him after last night’s amazing 4×100 relay, but that’s probably because he had red, white and blue face paint and was busy giving French fans the finger. I need more!
