WVU quarterback Trey Lowe plans to transfer

Quick update here: Quarterback Trey Lowe just tweeted that he plans to graduate this summer and leave the WVU football program as a graduate transfer.

Lowe, who also plays baseball for the Mountaineers, redshirted in 2018 but did appear in the Camping World Bowl loss to Syracuse. As a redshirt freshman in 2019, Lowe saw action in five games and played a career-high eight offensive snaps in a loss at Oklahoma. We’ll dig into this a little deeper as we get closer to spring ball.

WVU basketball falls to No. 14 in new AP Top 25

(AP photo)

West Virginia’s poor showing on the road over the weekend at Oklahoma did not cost the Mountaineers much ground in this week’s Associated Press Top 25. WVU dropped one spot and checks in at No. 14 this week’s poll, released Monday afternoon.

The Mountaineers appeared as high as No. 10 on one ballot and as low as No. 22 on another this week. You can see a breakdown of this week’s voting for WVU here.

Despite the loss to the Sooners, West Virginia remained among the nation’s top 10 teams in several prominent computer rankings — WVU is currently No. 9 according to the NCAA NET rankings and No. 7 on KenPom.

The Mountaineers have a tough week ahead, with a game at home against No. 3 Kansas on Wednesday and a Saturday trip to No. 1 Baylor. This week’s full AP Top 25 is posted below.
