Flurry!

This was later confirmed by a WVU press release. Grier, who visited March 2, was at WVU’s practice yesterday. He’s not at Florida anymore because he was suspended for a year in the middle of the 2015 season, and the Gators apparently wouldn’t guarantee Grier anything after his return.

The Mountaineers, though, are optimistic they can file a waiver on Grier’s behalf and have him eligible for the 2017 season-opener. If that doesn’t work, he sits next season (inevitable, no matter what) and the first six games of the 2017 season.

And that wasn’t the only news of the day.

This too was promptly confirmed by a WVU press release, and it should probably be celebrated as much as the Grier news.

Grier is a talent — WVU’s most talented QB once he’s on campus — and he was highly coveted as a high school senior. Goofy stats. And then he was a winner in college before a serious misstep. Honestly, his status is the only thing that kept a slew of schools from banging down his doors. Obviously. (I think that he picked WVU speaks to the level of confidence he and the school have about the appeal.)

Carrier, who comes to WVU after working as an offensive graduate assistant at Baylor, has long been one of Holgorsen’s favorites.

I expect he’ll have a lot of help from Dana Holgorsen, but he’ll also speak the same language the receivers do and probably help a bunch on special teams, too.
