Leftovers from Mike Burchett

I didn’t have any space in print for this update from G.A./quarterbacks coach Mike Burchett, but he’s keeping busy with WVU’s quarterbacks in the summer: Skyler Howard, William Crest, David Sills and Chris Chugunov.

I’m really excited about the quarterbacks, the four scholarship guys. Each guys is unique and each guy brings something different to the table. It’s exciting. I check in every day with (strength and conditioning coach) Mike Joseph to see if he’s having any issues and he gets annoyed that I keep asking him. ‘I don’t have any issues.’ That says they’re high-character kids who love to work, and that’s most important to me. But they’ve all got unique skills and I’m excited to see them grow.

Skyler has really taken off and taken ownership of his position. It’s fun to see him go out there and produce for us. William continues to grow and continues to learn things and get a grasp of the offense. I really think he’s going to benefit our team in multiple ways. Sills is a great athlete and maybe has one of the best work ethics on the team. He’s a super-athletic kid who’s as sharp as can be. Chugs is kind of the under-the-radar guy who throws as good as anybody I’ve been around as far as strict arm talent. Those two are talented freshmen who are supposed to be a senior in high school, though, so they’ve got a long way to go, but they’ve come a long way.
