He went and designed
June 13, 2013 by Mike CasazzaYou are looking live inside the WVU Natatorium at the new locker room for WVU’s men’s soccer team: Leather furniture, three flat screen televisions, 30 lockers and more to come, like speakers in the showers and a projector for film sessions. Everything is wireless, meaning people can control the volume on the speakers or change the channel on the television with their phones.
They’re still a few weeks away from being completely done, but seeing as though they’ve been waiting since, like, 2007, the Mountaineers will gladly wait a little longer.
This is the front of the room and easily viewed from every locker. The projection screen would lower to cover this. On the left is a board for match-by-match objectives. On the right is a grease board for diagrams and directions and the like.
To the left of the front of the room is a nook for a computer/homework center. Two iMacs!
There are a few of these murals throughout the locker room … you know, because they can. There’s room now. This is the same team that used to huddle in what was probably first destined to be a janitor’s closet at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. That must have been a hell of a scene after beating No. 1 UConn 2-0 in 2011.
Obviously, the redeeming part of this is for recruiting. In the past, Marlon LeBlanc would breeze by the locker room on tours. Now he’s got a place of his own.
