Three out, others remain day-to-day

Mysteries solved: Avery Williams (neck), Travis Bell (shoulder) and Jewone Snow (shoulder) are out for the season. All three are eligible to apply for medical redshirts, though Williams, who hasn’t played this season, would seem more likely to take a simple developmental redshirt, which he can still do.

Bell and Snow can’t go that route because  both have played this season.

They’d have to apply for the hardship waiver. Bell is a lock and WVU says Snow is, too, even though he’s played four games and more than 30 percent of the season’s games in the first half of the season. Here are the rules.

Entirely unsure about whoever it is that’s been otherwise injured, though Brodrick Jenkins, not yet three weeks out of a cartilage tear and minor knee surgery, was not ruled out for Saturday’s game. Shawne Alston remains an unknown, too, though Dana Holgorsen said a medical redshirt is not going to happen.

“We’re going to see if he can practice,” Holgorsen said. “We’re not going to dress him out and say that we hope he can play. He’s going to have to practice. We want to get him to practice so he can play in a game. It’s been that way for a month. This week, we are going to practice him and try to incorporate him. If it looks good, then we will play him. If he’s out there hobbling around, then we won’t play him. “
