The Sock 'Em, Bust 'Em Board Because that's our custom

What’s the difference between me and you?

Technically speaking, that’s the difference between 6 foot, 4 inch Dante Campbell and 5-7 Jordan Thompson. But really, as far as WVU is concerned, those nine inches don’t exist and one is very much like other, so much so that Campbell and Thompson are both inside receivers. Two very different sizes and strengths, but the same positions and responsibilities.

“With these inside routes, we have linebackers that are bigger than me, so they’re swallowing me up and Geno can’t really tell if I’m open or not,” Thompson said. “Now put Dante in there, even if we’re on different sides, but he matches up with those linebackers, if he’s not bigger, and gives Geno a much bigger target than me.

“It might be easier for me to get around some of those guys inside because I’m probably a little quicker, but Dante’s bigger and harder to knock down.”T

Modern day football, where there are no longer molds a player must fit or positions must adhere to. Oh, and Thompson? He grasps these things just fine for his age and seems, to me, to be as erudite as any freshman the past many years. He’s got an aptitude to learn, and then share, that might be as good as Geno’s was years ago. Imagine when he’s actually been here for a while.
