Pink Floyd never cared this much about walls

Nevertheless, here are some conceptual renderings of the 2012-and-beyond edition of Milan Puskar Stadium.

By the way, the source is not WVU. It’s Advent, the Nashville-based brand experience design firm that WVU has agreed to partner with in this matter, in large part because of Advent’s renderings seen above. Tour their website — this is what they do.

Advent is careful to say this is not finalized and both WVU an Advent might suggest and/or introduce changes before the end. That, though, is the general summary of WVU’s vision. Whether you had an opinion or were indifferent on this topic before Tuesday, I think we can agree this is better, yes?

I don’t think this will stand out as much as blend in with everything else, which, to me, is good because the barren walls stood out because of their plainness. And I like the way they’ve memorialized the retired numbers for Rat Rodgers and Sam Huff. Those were mostly lost before, which was silly because those special designations should be, you know, special.

A few other things I’ve gathered from this exercise:

– Technically speaking, this is no longer about gold and blue or old gold and blue. For the purpose of precision in this endeavor, WVU goes by the Pantone Matching System and lists its gold as PMS 124c and it’s blues as PMS 286c and PMS 295c. Check them out here.
