The Cavaliers are apparently out of the running for Kris Humphries, which is seemingly great news for Kevin Jones.

Not only is a power forward he was not going to beat for a spot not coming to town, but seeing as though Cleveland was reportedly willing to unload Luke Walton, it would appear the Cavs view Walton as expendable. Maybe?

So in that three players, two positions thing we’ve been working like a Rubik’s Cube, KJ may look safer now than ever before … even with Luke Harangody in place.

Wait. What? I knew I spoke too soon.

Turns out Jones won’t be on the summer league roster. Turns out that heel injury at one pre-draft workout that cost him another pre-draft workout, but, seriously you guys, wasn’t a big deal before the draft, will bench KJ for three weeks.

The agent says KJ is still guaranteed a training camp invite, which I guess we can believe, but who knows? Still, I can’t imagine the Cavs are just now discovering this, unless it was never disclosed, or was hidden — and I can’t see either of those happening.

Whatever the case, sure, he may have a training camp invite, but someone else is getting the minutes he could have used in the summer league and three weeks is some sort of spell when conditioning is involved.

Tough break for a guy who, by now, has to be more used to disappointments than he ever hoped he would be.
