WVU v. Pitt: Final lesson in zoology

… Since we here, it’s only right that we be fair. Psycho, I’m liable to be go Michael. Take your pick: Jackson, Tyson, Jordan, Game 6.

That’s the student section rally towel tonight and it’s just awesome.

Provocative note from the still special Petersen Events Center: Jim Burr is your referee tonight and is accompanied by Timmy Clougherty and Mike Roberts.

Say what you want about Burr, but I happen to think he’s an acceptable option for tonight. He’s going to let the two teams play — and he had the never civil Rutgers v. Seton Hall game last week. Actually, Clougherty was in that one, too. Officials can only prevent so much and they have to understand some stuff is going to happen. The good ones make sure no one taps the powder keg.

I think they might be OK tonight because, even if Burr is terribly slow and can’t keep up, they’re going to let some stuff slide and not letter-of-the-law this thing. And that’s good because I’m pretty sure you’re going to see something special in the line of want and will. Both teams need this game and both teams really want this game. It’s going to be more physical and rambunctious and doesn’t need to be handled with Capital Classic gloves.

7:57 pm: If the bench looks a little different tonight, it’s because Tom McCune is on a one-game suspension. No reason was given, but one game, um, eliminates some possibilities.

9:06: One more reason the bench will look different. Truck is starting there. We’ll see why, but he’s been in such a rut lately and the bench has given the offense so little that maybe this is two birds and one brick, er, stone.

9:09: Not sure how long Truck will stay on the bench, or how long this next part will last, but he’s pretty spry right now.

…and no internet unleass I use my phone to update. Not happening. I’ll update as can.
