The Sock 'Em, Bust 'Em Board Because that's our custom

Late entry for quote of the year!

Scott Andresen, a sports law expert and an adjunct professor at the fine Northwestern University, is a touch worried about what might be of these dueling lawsuits between WVU and the Big East. Specifically, Andresen frets about the effect on WVU’s scheduling.

“It could end up being a real big hot mess.”

Right now? It’s a small hot mess, but WVU’s fall sports coaches are being told to go ahead with planning a Big 12 schedule. Football must be treated a little differently, of course, and this is where things get tricky. As the article points out, the Big 12 and the Big East both release their football schedules in February. And they both might be inclined to include WVU.

Gosh, I hope that happens.

It’s been said again and again by the Mountaineers: They’re moving along as though they will play football in the Big 12 in 2012. Words are one thing and actions are another — and WVU has taken a long look at its football schedule and all but decided what to do about that extra non-conference game it would have next season if it’s a Big 12 school and figures to do something about it soon.
