You are looking live at the dashboard of my Chevy Cavalier when I got in this morning and headed to the Coliseum. No traffic. No chaos in the parking lot. Relatively empty press room. Filed and finished for the day by 2 p.m. Exactly what is wrong with this?
8:15: I say relatively empty in the press room because there are some covering this game, including Jack, who couldn’t sleep last night. He wants me to mention he got here before me.
That’s two WVU institutions in that photo. One might need to be institutionalized.
8:17: Justin Jackson arrived a few minutes ago and said, “Jack, I know the last time you were up this early men were not fully clothed.” That actually happened a while ago, but it took us several minutes to decipher this , but Justin said his jokes wake up at 9 a.m. Jack believes the last time he saw me up this early was when we were in the hospitality lounge at the Fiesta Bowl scheming how to steal nachos and salsa. That might have happened.

And, yes, this absolutely needs to happen at WVU. I’m suggesting it when I go get coffee here in a moment.
8:36: Three reasons to watch today: Jim Burr, Bill Raftery and ONIONS in the morning! Burr, by the called the game in Hawaii last night. He’s joined on the whistle by Wally Rutecki and Earl Walton.
8:48: Walk through just ended a few moments ago.
11:48: Truck misses a layup and there were some displeased people letting him know they were not pleased. WVU is 55-2 at home in nonconference games in the past nine seasons (losses are to Northeastern in 2004 and LSU a year later) and has a school-record 36-game nonconference home winning streak since that LSU loss. It’s coming to an end today, folks.
11:51: Kent State’s mascot is some sort of owl-looking bird. I’m really disappointed in that.
11:52: Realistic goal for WVU now: Don’t get blown out at home on ESPN.
11:57: Well, if you had a chance, there it went. Hinds makes a 3 to make it 66-56 and WVU gets a stop, but Hinds gets into the lane and travels.
11:58: Crunch time lineup: Truck, KJ, Deniz, Gary Browne and Hinds. It’s 66-56 and Browne goes 0-for-2 at the line. WVU also has three team fouls with 2:22 remaining.
12:03: This will be a great day for Kent State if they get the one more dunk they’re really trying for. Guys are running at the rim hoping someone sees and throws a lob.
12:05: Looks like Gary Browne comes to play every game. Smacked the gimme-the-ball-so-I-can-dunk pass out of bounds, but KSU wins 70-60.
