I have to admit, I don’t often think about what channel WVU games are on or how I’ll be able to watch them. That’s on me. However, I understand that there is some concern about catching Saturday’s game. I have DirecTV and just discovered the game isn’t listed anywhere — and do NOT tell my wife or we’ll have Comcast in here tomorrow afternoon.

I’ll beg for your help on this if you can assist, but here is what I gather thus far:

If you have cable — that is, not a dish — the game should be on ABC in all the Big East markets.

If you have a dish, you might be scrambling if you don’t subscribe to the local channels because ABC will carry the Big East game of the week, which this week is Pitt v. Louisville. There are alternate ESPN channels that I’m told sometimes carry the backup ABC game, but that could be the other noon ABC game.

That rival game is Oklahoma State v. Texas Tech, which is, of course, more important nationally.

If you live in the OSU or TT region, you will probably get that game — and I’m thinking this covers basic cable and dish. If you’re not there or in a Big East market, you’re still more likely to get OSU v. TT than WVU v. Cincinnati.

There is the ESPN3.com option, but I understand that may depend on your cable provider and that Comcast, in particular, can be real prickly about that. News to me. DirecTV is fine with that.

Then again, there’s a wrinkle there. ESPN3.com subjects games to blackouts and there is no way WVU v. Cincinnati is selling out Paul Brown Stadium.

… yikes …

Which leads me to this: If you have some clue what to do, if you can definitively explain the situation as it relates to your provider and your part of the country, please share.
