Rules and brews to live by

Just to prove they are indeed serious about improving behavior whilst selling beer at the stadium, WVU (re)introduced the “High Five Rules of the Game.” Covers a lot of stuff (anything).

As for the beer …

Anheuser-Busch, MillerCoors and the Morgantown Brewing Company were given the privilege of pouring beer at the stadium for the concessionaire. MilleCoors and the MBC also agreed to become WVU sponsors, which A-B has been for years. A-B sells all the Budweiser, Michelob, Busch and Rolling Rock products, plus Shock Top, Land Shark and Natural Light.

MillerCoors sells Miller, Coors and Molson products, plus Blue Moon and Pabst Blue Ribbon.

The MBC sells a variety of craft brews.

Obviously, each brewery won’t be providing all of its beers at every game.

Beer will be sold at 51 (!) locations, though nowhere near the student section, and run you $7-9. The MBC craft beers, which will be sold out of 16-ounce plastic cups, as well as imports will be on the high end. A 20-ounce draft will cost $8 and a plastic bottle $7. A-B is donating bags to assist a recycling program. Additional “mobile” restrooms are being placed inside and outside the stadium, though mostly for women.

Sodexo, the concessionaire, added two full-time staff members and 200 game day staffers to handle the expected uptick. A game will now feature 400 staffers and volunteers and 100 security enforcers and all are being trained in effective alcohol management.

The sale of beer will be cut off with 71/2 minutes left in the third quarter and a designated driver program will be in place with drivers available in each of the stadium’s corners. Those who sign up to drive receive a coupon for a free soft drink.
