Sources report Shannon Dawson has cleared WVU’s standard background check and Bill Bedenbaugh is currently being researched. Dawson is an official addition and Bedenbaugh is headed in that direction.

Per procedure, WVU will not make any announcement until the background checks are complete and everything is finalized. As you witnessed this weekend, you’d hate to introduce a coach and then find out he has a spotty past and present issues.

If Bedenbaugh is approved, he and Dawson give Dana Holgorsen his first two hires. Holgorsen will have just one vacancy to fill after Jeff Mullen, Dave Johnson, Chris Beatty and Dave McMichael were previously dismissed.
