Bill Stewart will not hear your projections

A loss tomorrow renders this all pointless — because the part of the season that involves chasing worthy goals is almost certainly over — but there’s an interesting condition involved with WVU’s football team.

When the players woke up Saturday morning, everyone wanted the same thing: Win the remaining games, go 7-0 in the Big East and get that BCS bid.

When they woke up Sunday morning, the mood was different, but did everyone still not want to win the remaining games, hope for one break (a second Syracuse loss) and grab the BCS bid?

A lot of things have changes, yes, but a lot of them remain the same. And in the Big East, with just eight teams and seven conference games, it’s understood going in your goals are more attainable with one conference loss or none.

So the game remains the same for WVU — win — but the circumstances and the stakes are different — lose and you’re done — which makes these final five games different than the past two.

Isn’t that right, Bill Stewart?

“I don’t want to hear that,” Coach Bill Stewart said.

And he was serious.

Pressed about what, if anything, changed from the approach before last week’s game to the reality entering Friday’s game, Stewart sunk his heels about not discussing the subject.

“If I go ‘la-la-la-la-la,’ would that upset you?” he said.
