The Sock 'Em, Bust 'Em Board Because that's our custom

Wednesday was a big day.

My reservation for Chick-fil-A’s new spicy chicken sandwich — you’re welcome — had come up and it was time to get  a preview before the public. Chick-fil-A already holds a special place in the blog’s collective heart and happens to be walking-distance close to the Coliseum.

So how about a practice facility update?

I can hear you now. “Mike, how did you gain this access?”

And you think I’m kidding.

These are your views as you first come upon the site. It is, as you can tell, both vast and developing.

I’m no contractor or engineer, but this work on the right might be the start of a parking lot. And I’d applaud that.

Walking away, I decided to snap a shot of one broad view. The Coliseum’s media entrance is a few feet behind me and the Natatorium and the wrestling and gymnastics centers are a hundred or so yards away. It’s an absolutely ideal location for WVU basketball.

And since we have this habit of focusing on food here, I thought, “Why fight it?” So here’s the spicy chicken sandwich. Remarkably, it’s Chick-fil-A’s first new sandwich introduction since 1989 … which, for some reason, made me tell a friend, “That’s crazy.” We then agreed me calling that crazy was actually crazy.

Per the special invitation’s request: “It’s a boneless breast of chicken, seasoned with a spicy blend of peppers, hand-breaded, pressure-cooked in peanut oil and served with dill pickle chips on a toasted, buttered bun.”

I’ve mentioned this before: I don’t like fast food and try to avoid fried food. This is a fried chicken sandwich from a fast-food establishment. Why? I’m physically unable to deny Chick-fil-A.
