Flowers on Twitter rampage

I mean to say “Here’s John Flowers explaining his Twitter parade from earlier this week” but I think the headline excites people in another way.

“Again?!?!?”

Flowers isn’t in one of those communication or social media classes that pushes students onto Facebook or Twitter.

“Just a hobby,” he said during interviews Thursday — with his phone in his hands.

Flowers, as we’ve known, discussed and delighted in, is an interesting character, but he’s pretty normal in the fact he just likes to talk. And Tweet.

“I like associating with people and talking to people and getting people’s thoughts,” he said.

Moved by the Mountaineers’ support last week — actually, throughout his career — he decided to return the favor with a “fan appreciation day text thing.” The result was a Twitter trend slugged IloveWestVirginiaFans that caught fire.

The motive was obvious. He can’t believe the way people follow and cheer the team he plays for and he couldn’t go on without highlighting it.

“I just noticed over the years that wherever we go the fans are going to get there,” he said. “We’re in California and the fans are there. We’re in New York City and we win the Big East championship and they’re there. I love West Virginia fans.”
