Big East: ‘Our bad…again’

Hey, maybe Louisville will want to leave the Big East!

Following the accidentally illegal onside kick against WVU in 2005 and the unfair catch against UConn in 2007, the basketball team has for the second time been granted an apology — but no re-do — after an admitted officiating error.

Turns out the officials acted improperly in Saturday’s game again against the Mountaineers.

John Paquette, Big East associate commissioner of communications, said he was not aware of any disciplinary action being announced against the officials by the league.

Also compounding the situation was a timer’s error. After Butler made the go-ahead basket with 16 seconds left, the shot clock was never turned off. When U of L guard Edgar Sosa brought the ball up the floor, the shot clock began its countdown from the eight seconds that remained after Butler’s shot and the buzzer sounded shortly after Reginald Delk launched a three-pointer.
