Who knows where this goes — and if Barry Brunetti was involved … or if anyone was, for that matter — but right now a tertiary player with a big role in WVU keeping Brunetti committed is an off-campus strip club in Starkvegas.

A Mississippi State football recruit who posted on his Facebook page that he went to an adult entertainment club during his official visit to campus says the post on the social networking Web site was a joke.

But Mississippi State is looking into whether any rules were violated this past weekend after the recruit and others referenced a visit to The Pony, a club between Starkville and West Point.

Jameon Lewis of Tylertown High School said he removed the status that said his favorite part of his visit was a trip to The Pony after hearing of the stir it was creating on the Internet.

“It’s no truth,” he said Tuesday. “It was a joke we were playing.”

More of the silly season! MSU is taking it seriously and has issued its statement. I’d like to issue one of my own: Don’t post potentially scandalous details of a recruiting visit on Facebook.
