Turkey break

I’m going to attempt to fly to Santa Ana, Calif., today and then motor over to Anaheim for the 76 Classic. I don’t anticipate much traffic here the next few days so I won’t provide much content, ie no Friday Feedback.

That said, I’ll be out there for work and following the basketball team and the tournament. You can find game stories and tournament posts here. Might have a diary for Friday’s game. Maybe we’ll get together for the Backyard Brawl as well. We’ll see. Until then, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

In the meantime, questions and comments can go below and I’ll get to as many as I can.

-To start, Devin Ebanks was with the team last night. He dressed, but didn’t play, and will make the trip to Anaheim, presumably as the most ballyhooed bench player at the event. Given WVU is going over there to win and Ebanks hasn’t been practicing, I’m not sure Huggins will take Kevin Jones out of the starting five right now.

– Huggins had enough Ebanks speculation: “I understand you have a job to do. I also understand that if it was your kid, you wouldn’t want it all over the newspaper, radio or TV because it isn’t anybody’s business. This (B.S.) that I owe (anyone) that? I owe that to the kid. I don’t owe that to the season ticket holders or The Dominion Post. My responsibility is to the kids and if it was your kid, you don’t want his business out there. … Everybody has the opinion of what should be done, but if it was their son, that position changes dramatically. I’ve always tried to treat those guys like they are my sons.”

– I’ll be paying very close attention to interactions between Ebanks and his teammates. I also wouldn’t be shocked if he had a monster game in the Classic.

– Joe Mazzulla played and had six assists. I haven’t seen him shoot many left-handed shots and apparently he scored on a right-handed layup from the left side of the basket Tuesday. I’m curious to see how much and how well he plays against Long Beach State or if the staff decides to reign him in a little and have more Mazzulla for Friday and Sunday. It’s something to follow throughout the season. Remember, WVU has three Saturday-Monday games late in the season and obviously they’ll need Mazzulla healthy in March.

– WVU can come off the bench with Ebanks, Mazzulla, John Flowers, Dan Jennings and Dalton Pepper. That’s a pretty nice luxury.
