The Sock 'Em, Bust 'Em Board Because that's our custom

Let’s turnover the page, yes?

I think if I have to hear, read or write any more about turnovers, I’m going to turn over my lunch. It’s also wearing on the Mountaineers who, we’re told, don’t want to turn it over.

Bill Stewart also has preprogrammed responses and tactics to deal with the repeated inquiries, which, by his Tuesday press conference, are entirely played out for the week.

“I’m so glad someone asked me about that … I had to wait 21 minutes,” Stewart said. “Let’s start with our first problem. We had missed assignments and we got that corrected after Liberty. That wasn’t real good. We got that corrected.

“Then we couldn’t catch a punt in Game 2. That cost us. We got that corrected. Then Game 3, we couldn’t help but throw picks. We didn’t like that. We got that corrected last week. Last week was fumbles. So it’s a thrill a minute with this West Virginia football team. Are we going to see missed assignments, fumbles or interceptions?”

Simple enough. I’d like to move on, but before doing so share the way Stewart is dealing with this issue that, in case you haven’t heard, is an issue.

“I yell at them, I do,” Stewart said, “but, the deal is this: To stand and scream at a guy … to scream at them ‘catch the ball!’ Well, that is not coaching.

“Tell them to catch the front cone of the ball, catch the small part of the ball, the sphere, the point of the ball.

“Don’t just stand there and scream ‘catch the ball!’ because that’s not coaching, that is just total harassment, and I am not going to coach like that.”
