The Sock 'Em, Bust 'Em Board Because that's our custom

Press conference notes

Nothing really new on Scooter and Reed. Both are probably what you’d call questionable, though Scooter’s shoulder sprain sounds more ominous than Reed’s foot sprain. “Reed’s day-to-day is brighter,” Bill Stewart said. Both will travel to Auburn and Stewart said he’s planning on both playing. That said, there’s a plan in place for Berry’s absence.

– The Pistol is here to stay and Stewart said he’d like to travel to the University of Nevada and workshop with Coach Chris Ault, who is either Smith or Wesson when it comes to the formation.

– Stewart said WVU’s five-game winning streak against the SEC does have something to do with the opponents not being Tennessee, Florida, LSU, Alabama, etc.

– WVU’s philosophy as it pertains to recruiting and personnel changed after the disastrous Continental Tire Bowl when Stewart and others realized the Mountaineers weren’t tall or fast enough to hang with many opponents.

– Auburn offensive coordinator Guz Malzahn coached the past two years at Tulsa. Stewart was on the WVU staff for years with Tulsa’s coach, Todd Graham, and offensive coordinator, Herb Hand. Stewart, though, does not call friends for favors or advice.
