The Sock 'Em, Bust 'Em Board Because that's our custom

OK, OK, we’ll do this again

Not one, but two (it was there, I swear!) Web sites reported the imminent arrival of the eminent Tevita Finau Tuesday. That set of quite a stir in which WVU people were very “Wha? That’s news to us.” — and understandably so.

Once I shook the facial twitch, I got to work.

And what work it was. Speaking with The People I speak with, I was left with three feelings:

1) No one here fully knows what to expect from anyone over there.
2) They’ve dropped their pursuit of the truth.
3) They want it to go away, whether Finau arrives or not.

Oll Stewart was asked about it Wednesday … and the question was prefaced with something along the lines of, “I know you’re sick of talking about it…” and Stewart’s face went from smile to glare, as if he knew what to expect.

Despite Internet reports predicting a Friday arrival for junior college defensive end Tevita Finau, West Virginia Coach Bill Stewart said Wednesday he knew of no plan for the Hawaiian’s imminent arrival.

“I hear things like you all do,” Stewart said. “At this point, Tevita Finau is not here. I, like probably everybody would, hope he’ll be here. When and if he does get here, you’ll see me smile. Big smile.”

I see this ending one of two ways. Finau doesn’t ever make it here or Finau arrives Friday and the first two off the plane are Ricardo Montalban and Herve Villechaize, who were reincarnated by locks of Finau’s flowing hair. By now, there can be no in between.
