PBC bereft of Mountaineers

For the past two summers, WVU’s men’s basketball team has participated and starred in the Pittsburgh Basketball Club’s summer Pro Am league. Plans were for that to again be the case this summer.

The league is certified by the NCAA for Division I competition and will feature many of the top players from area Division I schools Pitt, West Virginia, Robert Morris and Duquesne.

Scan the rosters and you won’t find one WVU player.

The Mountaineers, who last year could find neither time nor money to work out twice and then gas-and-go to Greentree to play the games, are sitting this one out. Granted, Devin Ebanks is busy at various invitational camps, Da’Sean Butler is playing the World University Games, Joe Mazzulla is still suspended and Deniz Kilicli is with his national team, so inspiring the rest of the team to participate could have been tough. But said one player, “It wasn’t worth it. We can do more here.”
