The Sock 'Em, Bust 'Em Board Because that's our custom

Cue the Carl Lewis National Anthem

Uh-oh.

We’ve found a two-year home-and-home series played between intrastate teams in BCS and non-BCS leagues. It meets all of the qualifications we’ve discussed, including stadium disparities.

Check Nov. 7 this year and then Nov. 6 in 2010. And just to be certain, check last year’s schedule. If you like absolute certainty, check the year before that.

Memphis is in the same Conference USA as is Marshall and Tennessee occupies the SEC, which is a lot stronger than the Big East. One could argue the Big East has no business stonewalling a C-USA team if an SEC team is accommodating, but another one could say an SEC can better absorb the strength-of-schedule/financial blow.

And as for stadium disparities, it doesn’t get much greater than Neyland Stadium (capacity 102,037) and the Liberty Bowl (62,380).

(Tip of the hat to OvertheSEC)
