The Sock 'Em, Bust 'Em Board Because that's our custom

Six alive!

Baseball team ends five-game skid. Receives assist from rain. Oh, and of that five-game skid, it’s not as if WVU simply forgot how to win. Rather, opponents remembered how to pitch. Really, really pitch.

They were outscored 39-17 and actually shutout once in a 3-0 loss in the series finale at Notre Dame. They never scored more than six runs after scoring more than six in all but seven of the first 35 games.

“In four straight games, we saw as good of pitching as you’re going to see in college baseball,” Van Zant said. “The four arms we ran into were really, really good.”

The Irish ended the series with back-to-back complete games. South Florida’s first starter went the distance and the second went eight innings. The foursome’s combined record is now 19-10.

The season (supposedly) continues tonight with a fun little late-season nonconference game against Maryland. Wear gold.
