Step 1 would have been the previous four seasons, but Alex Ruoff made the next move in his quest to play professional basketball during Wednesday’s opening round of the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament.

Fairly Ruoffesque line … and his three turnovers came in the first five-plus minutes. That fits with the review of one person I exchanged with, who said he “got better” throughout. Another, though, used the word “underwhelming.”

Some will say the PIT is a proving ground for the second round and international scouts, and there’s some merit to that, though it does matter for the NBA.  Irregardless, the roster this year, which figures to be pretty thin for the NBA draft, is about as stacked as it’s been in recent years.
