The Sock 'Em, Bust 'Em Board Because that's our custom

Reunion

Wednesday night was the first time Pete Thamel of the New York Times entered a WVU locker room following his accurate, though eyebrow-raising depiction of the team’s take on Duke last March.

Word was some players felt a little burned by the run that got, that some of it was meant to stay within the confines of the locker room, even though it was all out there for everyone to hear. And nothing was taken out of context by Thamel, who I’m jealous of for calling Bill Stewart “more Ned Flanders than Woody Hayes.”

As it was, though, some people wondered if there was a grudge toward Thamel and how the next meeting might go. In fact, I was reminded of this yestreday in an e-mail. Well, things went fine. Thamel and Mazzulla — black suit, pink shirt and tieĀ — had a handshake and a private conversation and Thoroughman didn’t say or do anything to act as if he was vindictive.
