Huggins hushed on wardrobe

It wasn’t me — honest! — but Bob Huggins was asked what he planned on wearing for tomorrow night’s game at Cincinnati.

Turns out this is a popular topic.

As he nears the reunion with the town and University of Cincinnati, Huggins was on WLW 700 AM last night with host Paul Daugherty. Daugherty said Bobby Knight had asked him to ask Huggins what he was wearing for the game.

You’ll recall Huggins wore the mustard-colored suit for last year’s game against the Bearcats.

“I told Paul to pass along for me that it’s none of his damn business. I’m pretty much standing by that.”

Huggins really admires Knight, who’s the analyst tomorrow night on ESPN, and the two are friends. Their relationship has limits, though.

“He still doesn’t need to know what I’m wearing. I don’t call him and ask what sweater he’s wearing.”

A student of reading between the lines, I’m additionally intrigued by this subplot.

(Completely unrelated, but someone — obviously not me … and if I needed to clarify, my feelings are hurt — asked if Huggins expected his former foil, outgoing U.C. president Nancy Zimpher, would be in attendance.

“I would guess not.”)
