Well, it’s barely January, but is it ever too early for Backetology and Joe Lunardi?

Note the 8-9 matchup in the South Region. I’d pay to see that. Not for any personal reason. Quite the contrary, in fact. I just think each side would do everything within the legal parameters of the game to win … and maybe a few things outside those parameters.

I’d like to see Beilein’s offense vs. Huggins’ defense. I’d like to see Huggins assess and adjust and Beilein huddle with his assistants and try to do the same. I’d like to see the battle of the fans and whatever taunts they bring to the game. I’d like to see Beilein’s reaction if WVU used the Beilein cutout in practice at the Pyramid. I’d like to see Huggins go to Memphis and wear Snowflake during the game. I’d like to see Bill Martin and Ed Pastilong force a handshake before the game and I’d like to watch the A.D.’s throughout the game as they react to every score, stop, lead and deficit. I’d like to see Joe Mazzulla take out the point guard at the bottom of the 1-3-1 after he had to sacrifice his body playing that very spot. I’d like to see Da’Sean Butler get in the middle of that 1-3-1 and play point-forward. I’d like to see DeShawn Mims v. Devin Ebanks, Alex Ruoff v. Zack Novak and Truck v. Kelvin Grady. I’d like to see Ben Cronin v. Wellington Smith. I’d like to see what Mike Gansey wears to the game. I’d like to see players Beilein coaches and players Beilein coached try to win a rebounding battle. I’d really, really like to see this happen.
