Talking points
January 12, 2009 by Mike Casazza…from the weekend that was. For your use in elevator rides, trips to the water cooler and other awkward moments on a Monday.
– Marquette rather enjoyed Saturday’s game.Â
-Â Ditto for UConn’s Renee Montgomery.Â
– The same cannot be said for Alex Ruoff.
– Looking good in defeat? WVU gymnastics.
– Oh, that Pacman.
– Today is the first day of the spring semester and the day some players in WVU’s 2009 football recruiting class were planning/hoping to enroll — ie, Geno Smith, Logan Heastie, Deon Long, etc. — so they might participate in spring practice and get a head start on their true freshman season. I can’t be certain of or specific with the details, which are only now coming together, but news did come to me that not everything is as it once seemed.
– I did experience a new way to get the shaft at the airport, though I won’t hold it against Milwaukee. My 8:15 a.m. flight from there to Philly was delayed because of a radio problem. It was the crew’s first flight of the day and rather than get on a new plane and start the day on time, time was spent repairing the radio and that caused a 25-minute delay. I guess I’m OK with that. I kind of like knowing the radio works. What I don’t like is a flight attendant who goes to grab breakfast and socialize with people, ignores airport pages and costs me another 30 minutes. For a moment, I refused to believe it was happening. Then, in the irony of all ironies, I’m hustling through the Philly airport to catch the 12:05 p.m. to Pittsburgh — Gate F26 to B1 … why does that always happen? — and I actually make it a little before noon, which was a miracle. However, my plane decided to pull away from the gate few minutes early to avoid traffic in Pittsburgh. Honest.
