The Sock 'Em, Bust 'Em Board Because that's our custom

No-huddle

– To Chris in D.C., Josh Jenkins looks big. He’s easily one of the bulkier offensive linemen, but he’s strong, too. He’s doing a lot of watching and I’ve noticed he asked a lot of questions to coaches and teammates. Nothing wrong with anything he’s doing so far.

– Still no word on Pat Liebig. Today is the fourth practice and Liebig has been getting a lot of work … which means a lot of work that could have gone to someone else had the NCAA denied Liebig’s appeak and ruled Friday, as was initially planned, or Monday.

– Brandon Hogan’s move to cornerback could be permanent. The coaches like what they see from just instincts. However, he’s only there now to learn the skeleton of the position — he already knows the skeleton of the slot receiver position. If he’s in the defensive backfield later in the week, he could have a new home. Fortunately for WVU, a few safeties, like Anthony Wood, can play cornerback.

–  Pat McAfee wore an eye patch during interviews Monday. Mickey Furfari happened to have said patch on his person. Said McAfee, “This is definitely coming to High Street.”

– People seem concerned about former linebacker Zac Cooper’s weight. It occurred to me yesterday that even at 250 pounds he looked like one of the bigger players at defensive end. Turns out he is: Julian Miller and Larry Ford weigh 240 and Liebig is down to 245, meaning he might have to play outside. Jorge Wright could probably play outside this year and he weighs 260.

– Former Nitro offensive lineman Chad Snodgrass is likely out for the season with a shoulder injury. He redshirted as a true freshman last year.

– I’ll say it again, John Antonik continues to wear many hats.
