The Friday edition of Throwback Thursday – 1980 Huntington East at Barboursville

Sorry for missing this yesterday gang, but I was actually off work on Thursday this week so Throwback Thursday is more of a Flashback Friday. This week we look back at the 1980 regular season game between two schools that no longer exist — Huntington East and Barboursville. Consolidation turned East into part of the new Huntington High, while Barboursville was one of the schools that turned into Cabell Midland.

This is the entire game, so strap in if you have a few hours to kill. Barboursville storms back from a 28-0 hole, but the Pirates come up on the short end of a 28-20 loss to the (old) Highlanders.

Speaking of Highlanders, I’ll be roaming the sidelines tonight for the Huntington at George Washington game. I’ll also be on 98.7 The Beat in Charleston at 4 p.m. this afternoon talking high school football. Enjoy your Week 3!
