If you’ve been reading PopCult at all this week, you know that ShockaCon happens Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Beni Kedem Shrine Center. ShockaCon is West Virginia’s only horror/sci-fi convention and they’ve got some great guests lined up.
Zach Galligan, star of the Gremlins movies, will be on hand Saturday and Sunday. Women of Horror will be represented by Camille Keaton, star of the movie I Spit On Your Grave and Geretta Geretta, star of the movie, Demons. Oliver Robbins, who appeared in the first two Poltergiest movies, will be on hand and you can read Bill Lynch’s profile of him HERE

After hours Friday, the Bint Il Nahir bellydance troupe kicks things off and they will be followed by the bands Orvill Rex and Charlie Ant Eaterr and YouTube sensation Weird Paul Petrovskey, who sounds like a cross between Weird Al Yankovich and They Might Be Giants and looks like a cross between Peter Tork and Emo Philips.
Saturday night after hours, Naughty Samahdi will open the night with a couple of Riveting Roses in tow and there will be music from Hurl Brickbat, Miniature Giant, and The Renfields.
Both nights will also feature folks from the online pop culture trivia game #Hashtag: A Game Show and there will be after hours gaming and a taping of the Stephen Hensley show, which I believe is called Wake The Fudge Up, or something like that.
After the after hours show, the festivities move over to the Blue Parrot, where The Big Bad will present After Shock, and Sheldon Vance will emcee two nights of great horror based rock and roll. I have to single this out because they base the flier for this show on one of my favorite things in the world, the old Moon Monster/Horror Club of America comic book ad from 1970.
