The revolution continues with the revamped programming line-up on The AIR. Wednesdays are when we showcase our talk shows, and you can tune in to hear our Always Interesting Radio shows beginning at noon at The AIR website, or on this swell little embedded radio machine…

We’re still building the new station, but things are coming together well.Wednesday we plan to bring you some of the most entertaining and informative talk radio that you’ll find anywhere. Our mornings and afternoons will still be filled with music, but the mid-day period and evenings feature a line up of stimulating and enlightening talk, plus a healthy dose of goofy fun stuff, too. Plus we debut our first news program, even if it is just local-oriented infotainment.

At Noon, it’s The Lynn Browder Show about Autism. In 2015 Lynn Browder began producing a show for Voices of Appalachia chronicling her son’s diagnosis with autism and the adjustments that she’s made in her life. In a few weeks Lynn will resume production of her program, bringing us up to date with Owen’s progress and sharing their personal journey. Until then, The AIR will re-present the original, striking and often emotional installments of Lynn Browder’s Autism discussion program. Lynn is one of the people behind the scenes who make The AIR possible, and it’s great to have her back in front of the microphone. Lynn’s show will replay on Friday morning and Sunday afternoon.

At 1 PM, On The Road with Mel returns in its normal spot. This week we re-present the “Meet Mel” episode of the show, so that new listeners can get acquainted with Mel Larch, the host of this weekly travel program. Mel is well known as a performer, musician and writer (and is also the spouse of your PopCulteer), but she is also an experienced traveller who’s figured out all the best ways to have fun, stay safe and save money on the road. Mel will return with new shows next week.

On The Road with Mel show will replay Friday morning and Sunday at 1 PM.

1:30 PM sees the debut of a new show, produced in conjunction with PopCult. STUFF TO DO is exactly what the title says, it’s a weekly half-hour that tells you about stuff you can do in and around Charleston over the coming weekend. Your hosts, Rudy Panucci and Mel Larch bring you a fast-paced run-down of what’s happening in town, and we even manage to sneak in samples of some of the musical acts performing around town. This week we talk a lot about benefit shows to help flood victims, plus we let you know about Sherlock Holmes on stage in Saint Albans and other cool things happening around town. You’ll hear musical snippets from Creek Don’t Rise, Jeff Ellis and 40 Days, Farnsworth and Zeroking. STUFF TO DO will be run several times between Wednesday and Friday on The AIR, and will also be posted Thursday morning here in PopCult.

At 2 PM The AIR brings you The Best of The Real with Mark Wolfe. Mark’s legendary talk program returns to internet radio with a recent interview with Charleston artist, Charles Jupiter Hamilton. Mark began his show on Voices of Appalachia, the predecessor of The AIR, and it’s great to have him on board for our revolution.As Mark eases back into a regular production schedule, we’ll bring you some of his earlier interviews. Sometimes Mark’s show will be followed by a “mini” version of one of our other shows here on The AIR. This week it’s a three-song version of Radio Free Charleston International.

The Best of The Real with Mark Wolfe repeats tonight at 9 PM and throughout the week.

At 3 PM each weekday The AIR brings you a two-hour work-friendly music block to help you finish your day of wage-earning. On Wednesdays we have two programs filling that bill. First, at 3 PM it’s Curtain Call. Mel Larch (hosting her third show of the day) brings you an hour of the best of musical theater.

Today you can hear her first show (which premiered last Friday as part of our big relaunch event), with music from “The Book of Mormon,” “Hamilton,” “Fun Home,” “Hedwing and The Angry Inch,” The Rocky Horror Show,” “Gypsy,” and more.Curtain Call will replay Thursdays at 9 AM and throughout the rest of the week.

At 4 PM yours truly pops up on the schedule again with The Swing Shift. You may recall earlier this year that I brought you two episodes of Radio Free Charleston International dedicated to Swing Music. Those were so well-received, and I had so much fun doing them, that I decided to go ahead with a weekly one-hour show that mixes together the best swing music from the last century into a concise, swinging, blast of jumpin’ music. In the first episode you’ll hear classic swing music from Benny Goodman, Harry James and Glenn Miller amid swing revivalists Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Brian Setzer Orchestra, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and more. The Swing Shift will premiere a new show every Wednesday at 4 PM, with replays Thursday at 10 AM and throughout the following week.

At 6 PM, right before a replay of STUFF TO DO, you can hear The Goon Show. This classic 1950s BBC Radio program inspired Monty Python, Beyond The Fringe, The Muppets and The Beatles. Harry Secombe, Spike Milligan and Peter Sellars delivered their influential half-hour of insanity to British listeners each week and generations of insane UK comedy followed.

At 7 PM for now, we’re running The Best of Word Association with Lee & Rudy. In a few weeks we’ll be debuting an exciting new talk show here, but for now you can check out the best episodes of the show where your PopCulteer and Mr. Lee Harrah hold court on a variety of random pop culture topics.

At 8 PM The Booster Pack slides into its new timeslot. Chase Henderson and Terry Bartley will offer their now-uncensored takes on what some derisively call “nerd culture,” but which the enlightend among us know simply as “really cool stuff.” New episodes will return soon. Replays can be heard overnights and on Sunday.

At 9 PM it’s a second chance to hear The Best of The Real with Mark Wolfe. In future weeks, 10 PM will either hold a replay of Six Degrees of Separation, or a live remote from one of Charleston’s hottest music venues.

I hope you take the time to tune in and see why The AIR is most happ’nin radio station on the web. These are interesting times. You might as well have cool stuff to listen to.
