Monday Morning Art: Twirly Whirly Burly-Q

Image1303

We kick off this week in PopCult with art based on last Tuesday’s visit by the world-renowned Twirly Whirly Burly-Q burlesque troupe, who pulled in to Charleston to entertain the throng at The Empty Glass.  Hazel Honeysuckle, Ula Uberbusen, and Rosie Cheeks were joined by our local burlesque starlets Pepper Fandango and Kitty Killton. We posted a short photo essay last Friday, but today we bring you one digital painting of each of the ladies of Twirly Whirly Burly-Q.

At the head of this post, you see Ula Uberbusen in mid twirl. Right below you’ll find Rosie Cheeks striking a pose. At the bottom is Hazel Honeysuckle, facing away from the audience. Each painting employs a different technique. Click to enlarge.
