Wednesday Weigh-in: Thursday edition

It’s been a busier than usual week. Well, no that’s a lie. It’s been a new normal week, which is to say is that it’s busier than it was a year or two ago.

I’ve also been preparing for the imminent arrival of my Dad from Michigan, which has jostled my schedule a little.

Not only am I late getting to the blog, but I’ve had to cut back on some of my extracurricular activities.

Pi Day!

Out of the blue, my aunt posted my the recipe to my granny’s coconut and pineapple pie. She’d found the card or the note somewhere. The recipe, she said, was written in her own hand.

The recipe for that pie had been kind of like a white whale for me during Pie Month in February. I’d asked Aunt Joyce about it, but then hadn’t heard anything. I figured she’d forgotten all about it or had become busy to spend much energy to track it down.

I’m sorry I ever doubted her.

People were complaining about the CrossFit Open workout about five minutes after it was released, last Thursday.

Each week, during the open, there’s a new workout. Participants in the open have a couple of days to do the workout in front of judges, where they get points and whatnot for completing the sequence.

Unlike the previous week, I’d checked in on the release of the workout before Friday night at CrossFit WV. I’d even watched a couple of elite guys try to slog through it and my very first impression was “Oh, man. That’s totally not for me.”

Pi Day

While my pie month for “One Month at a Time” may be over, I thought it was good to remind everyone that Pie Day is coming up next week.

Over the next couple of days, I’ll be sharing a few recipes –these are largely recipes readers or friends have shared with me that looked pretty good, though I may not have actually prepared them.

My pie education is sort of continuing. I never got to meringue or ice box pies, so here and there I plan to keep making, baking or whatever.

I intend to make a pie or two next week.

My weigh-in is late, but still within the week. I’m going to say it counts.

Current weight: 195 pounds.

This is a pound higher than I was last week. I’ve been a little loose with my food diary and calorie counting, but not that loose, I thought.

It’s not unusual to bounce up and down a little. It’s also not unusual to be irritated by this.
