Try It Tuesday: Maybelline’s Dream BB Fresh

Each Tuesday, Anna and I will post a new product we’ve tried and give it our official Fashionably Awkward review for our new Try it Tuesday series.

Shopping for makeup (in my case) goes a little something like this: I see something in my younger (and much cooler) sister’s makeup bag, I roam Ulta until I find said product, I purchase and pretend I know how to use it.

So, after peeking into her makeup bag last time I was home, I saw some sort of sorcery I had never seen before: Maybelline’s Dream BB Fresh cream. The bottle promises it blurs imperfections, enhances, brightens, adjusts to your skin tone, smooths, hydrates, helps protect you from harsh sunlight (thanks SPF 30), and contains 0 percent oils and other “heavy ingredients.” Phew, that’s a lot. I just wanted to hide some nose sunburn and lovely under-eye bags.

The kind I bought has pomegranate extract and is a 120 medium sheer tint. Because I know the bare minimum about makeup, I picked that bottle and hoped for the best.

Another thing I learned is that BB cream is just fancy makeup lingo for beauty balm cream. But you all probably already knew that because you’re way better at this than I am.

You guys, I am in LOVE with this stuff. It’s super easy to use — just dab a few dots of it on your face (I put mine under my eyes, on my cheeks, nose, forehead and chin), then get out a Beauty Blender and blend outward.

I had some gnarly sunburn a few weeks back because I forgot to put sunblock on my nose at the beach. I looked like Rudolph’s long-lost reindeer cousin. Seriously.

Before a nice dinner out, I put some of the BB cream on my nose and the rest of my face and holy moly, it worked miracles. My sunburn literally disappeared and my face looked as normal as it possibly could.

What I like most about Maybelline’s BB cream is that even the littlest bit goes a long way. The tube isn’t that large (1 fluid ounce) and it’s lasted me WEEKS so far.

I use it just about every day as a primer (IDK if that’s right, but let me live). Sometimes I can even get away with just using the cream and no foundation. It does make everything look even, feels super light on my skin and gives a that glow that just screams, “Yeah, I know what I’m doing.”

Maybelline is totally not endorsing this post, I just am super into this stuff and will be purchasing it in bulk for the foreseeable future. I’m so happy I snooped in my sister’s makeup bag last time I went home.

This place is sold in lots of places, I’ve seen it at Target, Ulta and Walmart. Enjoy!
