Projections before March 6 games

March 6, 2013 by Doug Smock

(Update: Which are getting exploded tonight.)

After nailing the MU-Southern Miss game, an updated league projection chart. And … I’ll show the difference if the Herd somehow wins another road game Saturday at East Carolina.

1. 16-0 — Memphis (now 15-0) UAB // W (clinched 1)
2. 12-4 — So Miss (11-4) UCF // W (cllinched 2)
3. 10-6 — UTEP (9-6) SMU // W
4. 9-7 — Tulsa (7-7) SMU, at Rice // WW
5. 8-8 — ECU (7-7) Tulane, Marshall // LW
6. 8-8 — UAB (7-7) UCF, at Memphis // WL
7. 7-9 — Houston (5-9) Rice, at Tulane // WW
8. 7-9 — Tulane (6-8) at EC U, Houston // WL
9. 6-10 — Marshall (6-9) at ECU // L
10. 4-12 — SMU (4-10) at Tulsa, UTEP // LL
11. 1-15 — Rice (1-13) All losses (clinched 11)

With a Herd win over ECU:

1. 16-0 — Memphis (now 15-0) UAB // W (clinched 1)
2. 12-4 — So Miss (11-4) UCF // W (cllinched 2)
3. 10-6 — UTEP (9-6) SMU // W
4. 9-7 — Tulsa (7-7) SMU, at Rice // WW
5. 8-8 — UAB (7-7) UCF, at Memphis // WL
6. 7-9 — Tulane (6-8) at ECU, Houston // WL
7. 7-9 — Houston (5-9) Rice, at Tulane // WW
8. 7-9 — Marshall (6-9) at ECU // W*
9. 7-9 — ECU (7-7) Tulane, Marshall // LL*
10. 4-12 — SMU (4-10) at Tulsa, UTEP // LL
11. 1-15 — Rice (1-13) All losses (clinched 11)

Either way, I have Marshall in the 8-vs.-9 game at 9:30 p.m. ET Wednesday. After Tuesday night’s game, I’d much prefer the 7-10, with a win making for a Southern Miss rematch. Donnie Tyndall couldn’t duck that postgame, either.
