Late (but still mythical) C-USA rankings

September 22, 2012 by Doug Smock

After a week of perfectly good blog entries making the paper:

1. Central Florida (Solid win over Sun Belt fav FIU. Next: Chillin’ today)
2. Tulsa (Penalized for visiting bakery, pounding Nicholls State. Next: Great game vs. Fresno State)
3. East Carolina (No, I’m not sure about this, either. But Pirates handled Southern Miss in Hattiesburg. Next at North Carolina)
4.  Texas-El Paso (Let’s see if Miners can stay in same area code with Wisconsin)
5. Marshall (Missed a shot at rising to No. 3: Next: At Rice)
6. Rice (Plays grass basketball with shaky results. Next: Marshall)
7. Southern Miss (at 0-2, a show of disrespect to the teams below. Next: At W. Kentucky.)
8. Houston (chillin’)
9. SMU (chillin’)
10.  UAB (at Ohio State)
11. Tulane (Ole Miss)
12. Memphis, the Sun Belt’s whipping boy.  (at Duke)
6. Southern Miss (off last weekend, gets East Carolina)
7. SMU (consolation game: Stephen F. Austin vs. Western Carolina? Next: Texas A&M)
8. Houston (Don’t get fooled by 56-49 — La Tech led 56-35 with 6:36 left. Coogs had to get onside kick in final half-minute to even get a sniff. Next: At UCLA)
9. East Carolina (4 picks at South Carolina … not very good effort. At Southern Miss this week)
10. UAB (off this week, next victim for South Carolina)
11. Tulane (already suffering a difficult, tragic season. Next: a much-needed week off)
12. Memphis (still owned by the Sun Belt, with Middle Tennessee up next)

Perhaps with a good showing against Purdue Marshall can move into your top 3 in the East and Maybe Cato can crack your top 4 qb’s in CUSA, huh?

    Man, ECU is loaded.
