Inside Marshall Sports

Memphis licking its wounds

In my preseason rankings, I overrated Marshall’s next opponent, at least for now. I did, however, say the Tigers set up to be better late in the season, and this isn’t late.

They’ve got to get better, because it probably won’t get worse than the 64-58 loss at SMU on Wednesday. Did I read this straight: The Tigers went 0-for-9 from the line in the second half? Wow.

And the Mustangs scored 17 points in a row? Wow.

You know the drill … good news is these bunch of Tigers aren’t that good; bad news is they’ll be a little surly when the Herd arrives for an 11 a.m. Central Time tipoff. The Herd will want to be awake for this one.

Here is the Memphis-SMU game from the Dallas Morning News.
