Here’s a recap of Daily Mail coverage related to local government this week, June 9 to June 13:

CHARLESTON – Charleston council’s Parks Committee revised the proposed race fee bill with what they say is a “middle of the road” solution.

CHARLESTON (CURA) – CURA board members voted to provide a loan to Bullock Properties for the Staats Hospital renovation project.

AIRPORT – Yeager Airport officials discussed efforts to get new non-stop flights to New York City and Florida.

COUNTY (Commission) – The Kanawha County Commission will take $50,000 from Prosecutor Mark Plants’ drug forfeiture account to pay for special prosecutors.

In other Kanawha County local government news, over 3,500 cars poured onto Kanawha Boulevard for Hot Rod Magazine’s 2014 Power Tour (see some social media photos here); officials said the Power Tour was a significant economic boost for Charleston; fines for the Kanawha Eagle Prep Plant for a February slurry spill have increased from the first round of fines; and St. Albans’ home rule application could be in jeopardy because required parts of the application are late.
